Sibling Loss in
Adulthood

A GRIEF-EQUITY RESOURCE FOR CLINICIANS, SOCIAL WORKERS, & EXPERTS IN THE FIELD

About Siblings

Of all forms of familial loss, siblings are the least studied. Currently, most research on sibling loss focuses on children and adolescents. Adult sibling grief is largely unexplored. It is imperative that families and clinicians recognize the impact of adult sibling grief and provide the necessary supports to facilitate restorative healing.

Why it Matters

When someone dies, siblings are often ignored because unlike parents and spouses, they are not considered primary mourners. This website advocates for and prioritizes adult sibling loss to increase awareness and supportive resources.

Grief Equity
"When your sibling dies, you lose a part of your past, present and future."
